Obituary of Michael Weinshel
Michael Weinshel, age 70, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at Bridgeport Hospital. Michael was born in York, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Nathaniel and Sadie (Bobbie) Weinshel. He moved to Bridgeport, CT as a child, graduated from Central High School in 1966, Marietta College in 1970, and earned an MBA from the University of Bridgeport. He married his high school sweetheart, Carol Spivack, in 1969.
He passed the CPA exam on his first attempt. Most recently, he served as Managing Member of Weinshel, Wynnick & Associates, CPAs, LLC.
Mike was very active in scouting and earned the rank of Eagle Scout. He served as a past president at Congregation Rodeph Sholom and remained involved there for close to 30 years after completing his presidency. He continued to serve on, or lead, multiple other committees at Rodeph Sholom. He was a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, National Association of State Boards of Accountancy, the Connecticut State Board of Accountancy and the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants. Michael’s passion was his profession. He valued his high standards and ethical standards above all else.
He served as the Chairman of the Board of United Home Health Care. Subsequently, he served on the Bridgeport Hospital Board and Finance Committee.
Michael enjoyed boating, fishing, model trains, watching sports, traveling and reading. Michael’s family remained paramount to him, including: his wife, Carol, of 49 years and his three boys, Colonel Matthew and Anne Weinshel and their children, Samuel and Benjamin; Drs. Randy and Stephanie Weinshel and their children, Audrey and Sean; and Seth and Kristy Weinshel and their son, Nathaniel. In addition to his children, Michael is survived by his sisters, Judy-Ann Kaplan and her spouse, Susan Houston and Marla Hauslaib and her husband Mark as well as several nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses of the Medical ICU and Floor 10 at Bridgeport Hospital as well as long-time friends, S.M. Yousuf Ali, M.D. and Richard Link, M.D.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, January 27, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at Congregation Rodeph Sholom, 2385 Park Avenue, Bridgeport, with interment following at Rodeph Sholom Memorial Park, 183 Kings Highway East, Fairfield.
