Obituary of Ellen Wolf
The family of Ellen Wolf, age 90, announces her peaceful passing on January 6, 2019, at home in Fairfield, CT. Ellen leaves her husband, Austin K. Wolf, and children, Candy and her husband Robert (Bob) Goldstein, John Koizim and his wife Martha Castillo, and stepdaughters, Judith Wolf, Nancy Wolf and her husband James Pavle. She will also be missed by her six grandchildren, Matthew (Mary) Koizim, Joseph Koizim, Elizabeth (Brian) Mixer, Edward Pavle, Dana Kurzner and Max Kurzner; and two great-grandchildren, Tyler and Owen Mixer. She was predeceased by her mother, Viola Herbert, and two sisters, Holly Shiffman and Barbara (Bobby) Altman. The family would also like to extend a special thank you to Jessica Floissac, her dedicated and loyal aide who along with Lenella Warrington and others provided exceptional care for Ellen for the last several years.
A Bronx native, Ellen graduated from Purdue University and went on to receive a master’s degree in Mathematics from Columbia Teachers College. After moving to Westport to raise her family, Ellen was an active volunteer for the American Technion Society and the Human Services Council of Fairfield. She also served as area coordinator for the American Cancer Society’s Reach to Recovery program. Ellen was an accomplished cook and proud collector of contemporary artists’ works.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 9, 2019, at 11 a.m. at The Abraham L. Green & Son Funeral Home, 88 Beach Road, Fairfield, followed by interment at Rodeph Sholom Memorial Park, 183 Kings Hwy. E., Fairfield. Shiva will be held at the home of Austin Wolf in Fairfield from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday (service at 6:30 p.m. each evening).
